The Army G-8: Soldiers as our Centerpiece
The Army G-8 is the Army’s lead for matching available resources to the defense strategy and the Army plan. We accomplish this through participation in OSD–led defense reviews and assessments, the programming of resources, materiel integration, analytical and modeling capabilities, and the management of the Department of the Army studies and analyses. The G-8 team is made up of one field operating agency—the Center for Army Analysis (CAA), three directorates—the Army Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) Office, Program Analysis & Evaluation (PAED), and Force Development (FD),—and the Army Study Program Management Office (ASPMO). The G-8 team works to plan, develop, and resource programs supporting Soldiers by balancing Current Force needs with Future Force capabilities.
Army Equipment Modernization Strategy
The Army Equipment Modernization Strategy (AEMS) is an Army guidance document that establishes a framework for synchronizing the Requirements, Resources, and Acquisition communities. The Strategy codifies the long term approach to equipment modernization and establishes a baseline for new equipment plans. The AEMS establishes a vision of equipment modernization to take advantage of government and commercial technologies to buy and integrate mature incremental improvements in the near-term while investing in revolutionary and evolutionary technologies for the future.
Army Equipment Modernization Plan
The Army Equipment Modernization Plan 2014 summarizes the Army Research, Development, and Acquisition (RDA) for ten capability portfolio areas and the Science and Technology portion of the Fiscal Year 2014 (FY14) President's budget request. This document highlights the portfolio accomplishments over the last two years, and provides the intent for FY14 investments as well as the way ahead. The plan reflects the Army's modernization priorities: the Soldier and Squad, the Network and enhanced mobility, protection and lethality. Dollars and quantities in this document do not reflect sequestration impacts or other changes following submission of the President’s FY14 budget request.
